I play the face off position in lacrosse. You might think that my stick is my most valuable piece of equipment, but it is actually my helmet. Last winter my coach's brother suffered a traumatic brain injury in a skateboarding accident; it really hit home for me because he was a professional lacrosse player and lacrosse is such a big part of my life. He spent time at the Shepherd Center in recovery, a non-profit specialty rehab hospital in Atlanta. Also, my own family has been affected by traumatic brain injuries. One of my aunt's, a ski patroller at Jackson Hole resort in Wyoming, lost her life after she fell and hit her head while on patrol in a couloir. Another aunt has permanent disabilities due to a TBI suffered in a car accident, and my cousin's lacrosse career ended after too many concussions while playing with an older less protective helmet.

So, I'm making it my goal that when I win face-offs, the Shepherd Center will win too and other patients & families can get the help they need. My goal is for every faceoff winning game this season, I'll post, and you can donate an amount to Shepherd Center's Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation Programs. Please scroll down to donate!
